RFID Smart Transportation Construction

As the number of domestic cars continues to rise, road congestion and traffic violations are common in daily life. According to statistics disclosed by the Ministry of Public Security, as of June 2020, the number of motor vehicles nationwide has reached 360 million, of which 270 million are automobiles. In the face of huge traffic pressure, urban vehicle management problems have become increasingly prominent, and more and more cities have begun to promote the popularization of RFID technology in traffic management.
The residual temperature of ETC has not returned, and the electronic license plate is booming
There are many application scenarios of RFID technology in intelligent transportation, such as intelligent public transportation, automobile electronic identification, intelligent parking, high-speed non-inductive tolling, automobile networking, intelligent traffic lights and so on. In 2019, ETC became a dark horse rushed out of the market. Because of the promotion of policies, it was once known to everyone, and a wave of "ETC" was set off. Just when the ETC trend has not receded, the electronic license plate led by the Ministry of Public Security once again detonated the market, and formulated standards for urban vehicle management, which further opened up RFID in the vehicle market.

In the final analysis, this is because the electronic license plate breaks through the bottleneck of the original traffic information collection technology, realizes the classified collection and accurate collection of vehicle traffic information, and then realizes the precise management of vehicles.

Previously, the most common vehicle license plate location and recognition basically relied on image recognition technology. After the license plate number was detected, it was compared with the list in the database. However, image recognition technology is greatly affected by environmental factors, and it is easy to make mistakes when recognizing license plates. The electronic license plate is not easily affected by the environment, has no blind spots, and can accurately and comprehensively obtain vehicle status information and road network traffic conditions.

The application scenarios of electronic license plates are very wide, and they can be used for traffic management vehicle management, urban traffic management, environmental protection restrictions, road planning support, and commercial applications involving car-related micropayments. As early as January 2016, Wuxi became the country's first demonstration application city to enable automotive electronic signs for intelligent traffic management. In the past four years, automotive electronic signs have been launched in Beijing, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Jiangsu, Yunnan and other provinces and cities.

It is foreseeable that in the near future, motor vehicles will gradually use electronic license plates with electronic tags, and the management methods based on electronic license plates will also develop and evolve.

Major cities promote the application of RFID in traffic management
Due to the obvious advantages of RFID technology in wireless sensing, more and more cities are beginning to introduce it into the traffic management system. From the perspective of specific application scenarios, different cities have slightly different emphasis on the use of RFID, but significant results have been achieved after the introduction of RFID technology.

In July 2019, the Traffic Management Bureau of Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau and Chongqing Urban Investment Golden Card Information Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. jointly established the RFID Traffic Management (Chongqing) Joint Research Center. The two parties jointly conducted in-depth research on RFID urban traffic management methods. Application exploration.
At the end of July this year, Nanjing started to start the electronic capture system of RFID radio frequency technology to capture the illegal behaviors of electric bicycle drivers, such as running red lights, driving into motor lanes, driving in reverse, and not wearing helmets.

In fact, the electronic capture system equipped with RFID technology used in Nanjing is already version 2.0. As early as 2019, Nanjing has launched a solution for capturing facial recognition technology. However, after a year of application and exploration, it was discovered that the introduction of RFID technology can greatly improve the accuracy of the capture system and the diversity of illegal data collection.

Starting from April 15, 2019, all newly-licensed electric bicycles in Nanjing will be issued with new-style number plates with RFID electronic tags. At the same time, starting from June this year, Nanjing express and take-out delivery electric bicycles are also replacing new special number plates with RFID chips in batches. It can be seen that Nanjing is very fast in promoting RFID smart transportation.
Since this year, Shanghai has explored and promoted an off-site law enforcement system for electric bicycle traffic violations based on RFID technology. According to data recently released by Shanghai, the number of road traffic accidents and deaths in Shanghai dropped by 9.6% and 11.9% year-on-year respectively.

Smart transportation still has a long way to go
According to a report released by MarketsandMarkets, the world's second largest market research institution, it is expected that during the forecast period (that is, 2018-2023), smart transportation will grow at an amazing compound annual growth rate, and the market size of smart cities will grow to 7172 by 2023. Billion US dollars, of which smart transportation accounts for the largest share.

At present, RFID technology has been widely used in domestic transportation, including domestic railway locomotive number recognition system, expressway non-stop toll collection system, urban road electronic monitoring system, parking lot RFID toll collection system, automatic vehicle weighing system, and bus access Station management system and so on.

However, as far as the current situation is concerned, urban smart transportation is still evolving. As the application continues to develop and mature, it will be an integration of various high-tech technologies such as autonomous driving, RFID, AI, sensors, positioning, big data, and cloud computing. Management system.
